Each quarter, students in grades 2 and 3 have reading ranges set based on their lexile levels. These ranges are set to help encourage reading, while preventing the frustration that can come with trying a book that is too hard. Once the range has been set, students then set a point goal. They choose books from the library within their range, read them, and then take a comprehension quiz on the book. In 2nd grade, they are aiming for an 80% on each test. In 3rd grade, they move to an 85% on each test. If they meet their point goal, and have that percent corret they go to an AR Celebration at the end of the quarter. 2nd and 3rd graders had a dance party, with pretzels and juice.
