School Counselor

Hello! My name is Adama Lasisi and I am so happy to be the School Counselor at Morris Hill Elementary! This is my second year as a School Counselor and my 5th year working in the elementary school level. I am originally from Guinea, and I lived in Virginia for 11 years and Kansas for 2 years. We are a military family, my husband is in the Army and I have a 1-year-old son. I received my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary studies focused in Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and my Masters of Science in Counseling and Student Development from Kansas State University.  I am very excited to be Part of the Panther’s family.

 What do Elementary School Counselors do?  

*Teach classroom guidance lessons

*Provide immediate and short-term individual counseling

*Facilitate short-term small group counseling sessions

*Consult with parents

*Work collaboratively with teachers and staff

*Provide information/referrals to outside community resources  

*Understand the self and develop a positive self-image

*Understand the decision making process

*Show respect for the feelings of others

*Maintain effective relationships with peers and adults

*Be prepared to make the transition to middle school
